If you’re looking to buy a used car, then one thing that you should definitely consider is vehicle mileage. You may find two identical cars for sale; the same engine size, colour, condition and age. Yet one is significantly cheaper than the other, and mileage is likely to have something to do with it.

If a typical hatchback vehicle (with a 1.4 petrol engine) has more than 150,000 miles than it may be rather cheap, yet it might not have as much life left as another vehicle. Then again if a high mileage vehicle has been properly serviced throughout the year, it could be in better shape than a vehicle with low mileage.

We’re not saying that you should completely avoid buying a used car that’s been driven frequently; we’re just saying that mileage is consideration that should be made. Then again the condition of a car usually gives an idea of how well it has been looked after, and you can always as to see the service history.
